Our Story

Happy Hen Homestead began as a quiet return to what felt right.

Growing up in Germany, life was closely connected to the land - homegrown food, simple routines, and a deep respect for nature were just part of every day living. Those early experiences planted seeds that stayed, even as life moved forward and became busier.

Years later, as a pediatric nurse practitioner and mother, that pull toward simplicity grew stronger. Working in healthcare brought a deeper awareness of how much what we put on and around our bodies matters. I found myself seeking fewer ingredients, more intention, and a slower, more thoughtful way of living.

Around that same time, our homestead began with just a couple of backyard chickens. Caring for them became a daily reminder of nourishment, simplicity, and the joy found in tending to something well. The "happy hen" came to symbolize home, care, and the belief that when we honor what sustains us, it gives back in return.

What started as small - batch creations made for my own family soon grew beyond our home. Friends and family began asking for the products I was making, and Happy Hen Homestead took shape naturally - rooted in trust, tradition, and thoughtful creation.

Today Happy Hen Homestead reflects a way of life centered around slowing down, honoring old- fashioned practices, and staying connected to the land. Every product is created with purpose, inspired by nature, and made with the same care that started it all.

This is more than a business -  it's a reflection of values, a return to basics, and a homestead built on intention.

Meet The Maker

Hi, I'm Sandra

Founder and maker of Happy Hen Homestead.

I'm a pediatric nurse practitioner, mama, and homestead enthusiast with a deep appreciation for thoughtful, intentional living. My path to creating Happy Hen Homestead was shaped by both my upbringing in Germany and my work in healthcare.

As a nurse practitioner, I became deeply aware of how much what we put on and around our bodies matters. As a mother that awareness became personal. I began seeking organic, toxin - free options and found myself drawn to fewer ingredients, more transparency, and products made with care - things I felt confident using in my own home and on my own family.

Today I balance life between healthcare, family, and the homestead -  creating products guided by experience, intention, and a commitment to clean, mindful living. Thank you for being here and supporting this journey.
